Podgorica - A more favorable business climate and a stronger tourism sector depend on closer cooperation between public institutions and the private sector, according to a recent meeting focused on rural development.
Milan Butorović, a representative involved in the discussions, emphasized that by working together, state bodies and economic actors can address long-standing obstacles that hinder growth. He pointed to the need for streamlined regulations and targeted support for small enterprises, especially those operating outside major urban centers.
The meeting brought together officials with members of the Center for Rural and Ecological Development of Montenegro and the Cluster Center for Rural Tourism from Bar. Participants explored ways to leverage local resources and traditional industries to create sustainable tourism offerings. Butorović noted that rural areas hold untapped potential, but realizing that potential requires coordinated effort. He argued that fragmented approaches have limited progress in the past, and that a unified strategy would yield better results for communities and investors alike. The discussion also touched on improving infrastructure and access to funding for smaller tourism operators. Butorović concluded that the partnership model offers the most practical path forward, benefiting both the economy and the quality of life in Montenegro's countryside.
